On October 7, 2017, the “2017 Fintech Startup Conference” was held at Artosino Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, organized by IBeeHub and Wall Street Fintech Club (WSFC). China Institute support the conference as a partner. Nearly three hundred people include Fintech field senior experts, representatives of investors and startups, mentors and advisors attended the event.

The theme of the conference is “Innovative Financial Technology”, which aims to help Fintech startups connect with professional consultants and investors. The conference had gathered well-known investors from China and the US, industry experts, media partners, 11 outstanding startup teams, as well as many people who are interested in Fintech.

At the beginning of the conference, James Chen, founder of IBeeHub and CHLYS Capital, made an opening speech to compare the differences of financial technology industry and investment trend between the US and China. Hu Feng serves as vice Consul of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, joined Dorinda Elliott who is the senior Vice President and director of center for business of China Institute and Julia Zhou who is the Chief Strategy Officer of Wheat Financial and the founder and the president of the Wall Street Fintech Club, also made welcome remark of the conference.

The theme of the first morning panel is P2P and lending of Fintech, hosted by investment advisor James Early, joined by Professor of Finance of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Huining Cao, partner of Nanhu Financial Corporation Chuanwei Zou, New York Based Hedge Fund Manager and Quantitative Strategy Director Kai Zhong and the Chief Strategy Officer of Wheat Financial Julia Zhou. After that, former chief operating officer of NYSSA Harumi Urata-Thompson chaired the panel on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”, joined by David Drake, chairman of LDJ Capital, and Feng Lei, head of equity market making at JPMorgan Chase.

After lunch, Fei Luo, co-founder of Green Pine Capital partners, delivered a wonderful speech on “Industrial Innovation and Sino-US Collaboration” and introduced the overseas Chinese venture program of Green Pine Capital Partners, such as Rouyu technology. After that, the keynote session “Sino-US financial technology investment outlook” was hosted by Financial News Presenter from Phoenix Satellite Television Jennifer Lee, joined by chairman of Double Bridge Technology and co-founder of Newtown Capital Gang Wu, Co-founder and management partner of Palm Drive Capital Seamon Chan, and Deputy General of China Merchants Bank New York Xuejun Mao.

Fintech startup competition started after the keynote session. Yiting Liu (the COO & partner of Coalescence Partners), Yansong Jiang, Lei Feng, Ximeng Chen, Harumi Urata-Thompson, James Chen and Julia Zhou served as judges. 11 startup teams from China and America participated in the competition, they are: ZBEST, EXPAT, AINVEST, BLINK CARD, ALGO LEAD, Q-TRANSFER, ALCHEMY FINANCE, LUM, VANYWHERE, Beijing quantification and THEMARKETSTRUST RATINGS (according to the order of the presentation). The team representatives presented the innovation of their ideas, strong team member backgrounds, competitive advantages and other related information to the judges and the audience. BLINK CARD, EXPAT, THE MARKETSTRUST RATINGS were selected as the top three teams of the competition. Participated teams have the chance to get full sponsorship from Ningbo branch of Chinese Association for Science and Technology, on a trip to Ningbo Quant Finance Trading Harbor (Ningbo liang hua town) to explore the market of China. Haojun Zheng, deputy director of enterprise affairs office , and Xin Ma, project manager of professional exchanges of China Association for Science and Technology from Beijing,  also attended the conference to congratulate the winner teams.

Feng Li, the famous investor and partner of Frees Fund, once again came to support IBeeHub and gave a keynote speech on application of the block chain technology in the field of financial industry. In his speech, he not only introduced the core value of the block chain technology, but also introduced some cases of its application in the financial industry.

Finally, the founding partner of IBeeHub, Dr. Yansong Jiang, gave an excellent closing remark of the conference followed by a cocktail reception.
